The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers brought a close to the 2013-14 season Monday night at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church as they hosted their annual awards dinner.

“The standard isn’t just to be average anymore,” said head coach/general manager Rockie Zinger as he addressed those in attendance. “The standard is to try and be the best in the league.

“What we’ve been able to do (this year) is develop a standard for which our organization hopes to carry on (in years to come).”

Grounded: Klippers swept by Millionaires

What started as a season targeting new heights ended on a low note March 19 as the Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers were brought back down to earth, falling victim to a 4-0 series sweep at the hands of the Melville Millionaires.

The Iron Horse Kindersley Klippers begin their pursuit of the 2014 Canalta Cup this Friday, March 14 when they welcome the Melville Millionaires for Game 1 of their best-of-seven first-round series. The two teams will hit the ice for Game 2 the next night. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. both nights.

What exists is a tale of two evenly-matched clubs who both faded down the stretch run and ended their season on disappointing notes. Continue reading
