Just because there’s snow on the diamond and a chilling wind blowing across the field, doesn’t mean head coach Jeff Amos and the Badlands Baseball Academy have gone into hibernation.
In fact, Amos admits the winter season is as busy, if not busier than the summer season for himself and the Academy.
The Academy has been busy in past weeks with one of its biggest annual fundraisers, player personnel movement and preparations for its annual trip to Las Vegas.
Cowboy Crunch – Oyen, Alta. – July 2013

The 15th-annual White Lightning Dodge CPRA Professional Cowboy Crunch rocked Oyen July 24 with 30 professional bull riders putting on a raucous performance for the estimated 2,500 in attendance.
“I thought this was one of our best events,” said committee member Randy Girletz. “Some young people came on (to the committee). That brought some new ideas.”
Two Alberta cowboys, Scott Schiffner of Strathmore and Kyle German of Crossfield, would split the title with equal scores of 86.5.

Rhett Feser, Badlands Baseball Academy – Oyen, Alta. – September 2013

Rhett Feser wasn’t content with his baseball season coming to an end in early June.
Invited to selection camp for Team Saskatchewan’s entry into the Canada Cup baseball championship, Feser made the most of his opportunity and on June 26 received the official invite to represent his province.
